Second one has far more attractive lume, but looks like the pictures were taken with a potato. Can't really see any detail. Unless it is important to you to have one NOW i would wait and see what I can find. That first one is almost a $2K USD premium over what I would consider a fair market value. Does anyone really care that the case was made by CRS or Spillman? That's the first I've ever heard of that justifying a premium for an '80s speedmaster.

I agree, if the alternative manufacturer to CRS would be known for sub par quality, then this one might demand a higher price.
The fact that I don't even know who the rival manufacturers might be tells me that's not the case.

Nobody else concerned about the misaligned minute hand on a serviced watch?

I expect it will be hard to get a fair price from Shuck the Oyster. Some of his watches are quite nice, but his prices are always high. Since you are looking for a common watch, I would be patient and look for a watch you can buy directly from the owner. You will save a LOT of money.

Yes I would say impossible to negotiate and a bit overprice.

Im waiting patiently 馃榾

I think most of the watches I have seen from the 80's are CRS marked. So I guess no premium should be paid for that.

Im still browsing for the perfect match to appear. 馃榾

I wouldn鈥檛 buy either of them. And my price estimation would be 3800 for the first and 3500 Euro for the second as a maximum. I am based in Europe too and prices seem to be pretty much the same here as in the US.

I would wait until the right one pops up, you only buy a birthyear Speedy once and should be satisfied with it.

Kind regards Max

Thanks for the price estimation Max!

I have seen a bit better prices in US.

I can buy in the US as I have an address there, working for an airline opens a lot of possibilities. But have not found it yet.

Here is another one....

https://www.ebay.es/itm/OMEGA-SPEED...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

OMEGA SPEEDMASTER MOONWATCH 145022 CAL 861 LONG S LONG R Anno 1985 Full Set Price 5499 Euros.

Attach some photos.

I think price is quite negotiable, I have that feeling at least. The seller is from a town I have been when I was living in Italy few years ago..
Half Italian and this part were a bit tricky with fakes and stuff....

The bracelet is not an 85. the rest looks ok also except is 48 serial.

Since its advertised as a full set. I asked for a photo of the papers. But got the photo of the table and open case photo with the 48 million serial not even in sharp quality to read the numbers.

Then I said no papers no offer, I got the photos of the papers being covered by the watch... 馃檨 I feel is a scam... What do you guys think...

And this Caseback is not CRS...

Per the serial, the earliest it could be is Feb. 1990.But I'm sure you've already looked that up as well.
Advertised as full set. What's that hand written piece of paper? Is he calling that the receipt/warranty card from 1985?
I'm sure someone on here has a real set from 1985 that might be able to weigh in if that looks correct.
Is the box correct? Why does it say 2011 on it?
Agreed on the wrong bracelet. And as you said, if he doesn't want to answer questions truthfully, then he's already prepared to not make the sale.

No expert but the model designation inside the third watch case back looks a bit uneven and clumsy to my eye.

Chrono24 prces are a little high, although i would say eBay is getting quite similar in the last 2-3 weeks across Europe - perhaps ebay sellers are using C24 as the marker ? See the same watches being relisted time after time; perhaps just an indication of buyers drying up as a possible recession approaches ?

5500euros should get you something around 69-71, perhaps refurbished or if not with plenty of battle scars - for a mid 80s i would say you should be looking at paying maybe 3300-3900euros. I'd also look at mall.elady.com as they list a lot of watches which are generally good condition (albeit polished).

Hey. Just regarding the dating of the watch. I have a 1985 Speedy myself with low 47 mill. serial number (47133XXX if I recall) with a production date according to the extract in april 1985. If you are in mid 46 mill you might have an extract that says 1984.

The pretty amazing tool on ilovemyspeedmaster.com dates my serial to august 1985.

Sorry. I've never heard of "CRS" or Spillmann. What are they and why could they cost more?

Thanks
Ian

Have you considered submitting your numbers to ilovemyspeedmaster.com?
That way they could work on their algorithms and make the tool more precise for the rest of us? Thanks!

I was about to purchase one with Serial 47133XXX and the extract came back as Feb 1986. Interesting yours came as April 85 can you double check your serial as you state if you recall...
