Hello all, I have a ‘79 Omega Speedmaster Professional, case number 145.022, that needs a crystal replacement. I did this myself a few years ago and the crystal was $60 bucks or so. I’ve been attempting to source. New crystal this time and genuine Omega crystals are $200 bucks or more. Does this seem accurate? Non Omega branded replacements are still that $60 or less, but I’d rather go the genuine route. Any suggestions?

It’s because Omega no longer sells parts such as crystals to third party resellers. As such the only way to get a crystal for the ‘normal’ price is via an Omega certified watchmaker. I recently had one done as part of a service and it was £60.

When you buy one on eBay it’s much harder for these resellers to source these items now and so the price has shot up.

Thank you for the reply. That’s my quandary, it was serviced about 2 years ago and everyone I’ve contacted won’t just replace the crystal, they require a full service.

Yes. It’s cracked. You can’t feel the crack, and I haven’t noticed any water infiltration. It just looks bad cosmetically.
