1971 Speedmaster. Look ok? And what is a good price?

1971 Speedmaster. No original bracelet. Supposedly has had a recent service. Considering this as my wedding watch. What would be a fair price to purchase at? And does it look good for a 1971?
Thank you!

You might want to ask yourself why it has the wrong chrono hand and also why the photo is so washed out. Oh and where is the dial step? Or that also a casualty of the terrible photo. The S looks awfully like a -78 onwards dial which would explain the lack of step. You sure its a -71?

I just reached out and asked for better photos and a photo of the movement and hopefully serial number to try to date it? Looking at it, I also dont see a step dial. Im not sure what is wrong with the chronograph hand though?

The spear chrono hand is a lovely design and I personally prefer it to the square end version, but it is not correct for any speedy made between 1968 and 2021.

If the dial hasn’t been changed, I’d suggest that one was made sometime from 1979-1982 or so but I’m not certain when the long S was changed back so treat my upper date as a suggestion.

Got some more pics. Looks like it might be from the early 80s and they have the date wrong at the store. Still would like to know what a fair price would be.

Told you so!

Why don't you cut to the chase and tell us what they are asking and we will tell you if we think its a good deal.

ps the engraving of the text on that caseback is very wonky. Or maybe it is just a badly focused photo. It might be a good idea for you to ask for and show a pic of the outer side to make sure it isn't a fake replacement.

Zimbabwan dollars, US, GB pound, euro? The first one would be a steal, one of the others maybe not so.

So not only are they miles out on the date, they also need to drop the price. Take note that speedmaster101 is in dollars and head only. considering the bracelet is aftermarket. i would be looking for a hefty discount on 5k (assuming your in the UK?)
