Hi all, I am selling this very nice 166.093. It has been bought new by an Omega collector, who never really had worn it. It has been serviced last autumn and the only flaw is a little dent near the crown (please s. pic.)

  • Year: early 1970s
  • Reference: ST166.093
  • Case: Near mint original mono-block case with nice sunburst finish - one little dent near the crown
  • Movement: Automatic cal. 1002 in great running condition
  • Dial/Hands/Bezel: In excellent condition - rare original dial with the small minute markers!
  • Crystal: Original 4.5mm mineral crystal in excellent condition
  • Band: Original Omega mesh bracelet - comes with additional extension
  • Diameter: ca. 44mm
  • Serviced: Yes
  • Accessories: Vintage Omega box - no papers

The watch is in Switzerland but could also be sent from within the EU.

My price is EUR 5900.00 world wide shipping included

What does "bought new" mean? Is it comprised of NOS Omega parts that were assembled with a vintage movement or the entire watch was bought in the 70's and remains in this condition?

The owner has been collecting Omega for decades and he bought two of those watches when they came out. One to wear and one for the collection. Nevertheless, hands and dial look luminova to me and they glow pretty strong. But as service dials don't have the smaller minute indices, I assume these are the original parts.

I would assume that this is the standard service dial, service hands and service bezel, as for the case i would also say that it is one of these NOS cases which comes from a source in Switzerland, because all of these have the sunburst instead of the radial brush.
I have yet to see a used case with the brush of your case to conclude that the 1000m existed with both types of finish.

Yes, I have read this story of the Swiss NOS reassemblies. This I can definitely rule out for my watch. The collector, whom I bought it from has started collecting Omega Sporties in the 60s and he bought two pieces of more or less any sports model that came out since then. He would not have or even consider having a reassembled watch.

Usualy the service dials haven't got the smaller, inner minute tracks, like i.e. this:

So I don't see mine really as a service replacement.

That is an older service dial, but for about 2 years now you can get service dials that look like yours.
The Font on your dial is different to a original vintage one.
and your bezel is as i wrote before definately a service part too, you can distinguish them by the font and they way they glow.

For comparism here is my original 166.093 with all original parts

and here is one that i owned before a complete buildup by service parts except for the hands which were vintage.

as you can see, the second one looks exactly like yours except for the hands

Yes, this looks like mine. However, I have sent the watch to Omega for a complete overhaul and I got it back now:

The watch comes with a two year Omega warranty - for members of this forum the price stays the same at a firm 5900 EUR.
