Hi thanks for accepting me into forum, my daughter has inherited the watch shown in the photos, it was a retirement present from fords for my grandads service but it looks like he opted for a ladies watch for my grandmother, would be nice if anyone could help with model etc, I know it has a Spiedel band/strap which I believe Omega used for elasticated bands.

thanks for your anticipated help

Easiest way to answer your questions would be opening it and showing us movement and inner side of case back. Just don’t try it yourself if you have no practice so you won’t damage it.

Welcome Jay,

Omega didn’t use Speidel’s, that watch most likely came on a leather strap with gold omega branded buckle. Any strap that measures to the width of the lugs will work- you’re daughter may want to pick her own color/texture. The crystal is badly crazed, so you should have the watch serviced and crystal, crown and back seal replaced to keep it waterproof for your daughter.

Nice family heirloom to have.

water resistant

Otherwise I agree with you, it'll be a nice watch when serviced and on a decent strap.

thanks for reply much appreciated, such a shame it’s not the original strap, I think I will do some research and see if I can find an original strap for it (probably rarer than hens teeth) and get the Crystal done and a service, be nice to get it back to how it was given by fords for my daughter as it is a lovely watch with a 50 year service message engraved on back.

You could still buy a nice leather strap to suit from Omega nowadays. Drop into a Omega Boutique once serviced by a independent watchmaker with a Omega account. (Don’t get omega to service it as they won’t keep it in its present vintage state) Odds of finding a wearable vintage one are slim and none
