·Up for sale 60's Omega Seamaster 300 Ref. 165.024. I bought this example as part of a deal and contrary to most, I like the date version better.
It currently has a repainted dial, so I tried to find it another original dial. I eventually made a deal for an original, but water damaged dial that I have pictured (and will include). This could be a good example for somebody to get cleaned up and relumed along with the original hands and maybe the bezel.
Like most of the sm300, this one has wear throughout and is in about average condition. The caseback engraving is a little faint, but still there. The caseback seems to close tightly and seal up fine, but can be a little easy to thread incorrectly, so I'm always careful when opening/closing it to not damage the threads.
Mechanically, the watch runs fine and the seller I bought it from indicated that he had it serviced a few years ago. The caseback markings seem to confirm this, but I can't verify the quality of the service, so maybe assume it is unserviced.
Ultimately, I'm just trying to get out whatever I have invested into this watch. At this price point, I think it can be a good resto project, worn as is, or converted with the old dial, hands, bezel removed and sold so the watch could be converted to a "watchco" type build. It comes as pictured with a new tropic strap, spare original dial, and watch head. If you'd like the old dial installed, I'd be happy to do so after payment before shipping out the watch.
