Hi,

I recently picked up a vintage Omega off eBay, when I got it there’s a few things I want to ask about. From the reference number it says it’s this https://www.omegawatches.com/watch-omega-de-ville-omega-ba-161-0024. It certainly looks the same but it doesn’t have a second hand and the case is stainless steel. Did some models come with only 2 hands? There’s also no omega symbol on the crown, that doesn’t look to be original though, it’s a different metal to the case.

The Dial itself doesnt have the Omega logo but is a little worn like you can see in the pictures. There’s also a different colour and texture around the writing, is this from someone not cleaning near it to avoid damaging the writing, you can see damage near “automatic” and “Swiss”?

Any ideas where to find more information or advice would be appreciated.

The dial was aggressively cleaned, someone removed the lacquer layer and the printed logo was gone as well

This was likely water damaged and this path was chosen, doesn't look bad though

Are you quoting the reference number from the seller or is it stamped on the inside of the caseback.

It's not a 161.0024 but a 151.0039 due to the case/dial style.
Crown is a replacement.

As @kaplan noted, the dial has been cleaned but it still looks OK for a "non-collector" piece.

According to the printing at the bottom, it was manufactured on the International Space Station. Very special dress watch, emblematic of Omega's connection to space travel.

Interesting, these are the numbers from the seller, but they provided these pictures. From researching it seems the 161.0024 should have a second hand, I assumed this has just been removed at some point due to damage. Looking at photos of the 151.0039 it definitely does look like this could be a more work version of those.

Yes, I can see the centre wheel pivot now, so it's missing a second hand.

Thanks! I'll find someone to replace that and the crown along with servicing it.
