Available for you is this handsome early 1960s Baume & Mercier Geneve I could not find many vintage Baume & Mercier watches listed for sale or sold. So a bit of history for those who aren’t familiar with the brand. Baume & Mercier began in 1830 when brothers Louis-Victor and Célestin Baume began selling watches in Les Bois, a village in the Swiss Jura. At the beginning of the 1920s, the company director William Baume joined forces with Paul Mercier. Together, they founded Baume & Mercier – Genève. Symbolic of the Golden Ratio, in 1960 the company began to use the Greek letter Phi for their logo. This I believe is what we are seeing under the balance wheel. About the watch: 34mm without crown Only 9.5mm thick (!) 15 jewels Lug width is 17.5mm, the included strap (shown here) is 18mm Under the balance wheel it is marked 2390, followed by their (I believe) Phi symbol. This could be an ETA 2390 https://17jewels.info/movements/e/eta/eta-2390/ The watch is running strong and keeping good time There is a Radium burn where watch was left at 8:50 for some years, an interesting artifact that tells a unique story The watch comes with the rather nice strap pictured here There is some case wear around the lugs The watch ships from my home in Vancouver, Canada Asking $240 USD (net to me), plus shipping. Time for an outdoor wrist shot As noted above, there is some wear on the lugs, and I only notice it under magnification. But, this doesn’t detract from how nicely this watch wears. Baume & Mercier Geneve, get yourself one!
