·Hi all,
I am selling my Longines Conquest Cal 291 ref 9024-2, asking $1000 USD OBRO. I am selling because I've recently purchased a 9024-2 in better condition. It is in overall excellent condition and has served me well. It was my first vintage watch from a luxury brand. It is keeping good time, although I have not officially timed it. I'd say within 30 seconds a day. It was serviced in March 2018 in Ottawa, Canada. I had the caseback enamel restored by one of our fellow OF Forum members in the UK (@Mitka) who did an excellent job. I have an extract from the Longines Archives, which indicates it was sold in Nigeria in 1961. Serial dates it to 1960.
Case - Minor scratches from regular use. Nothing major. Some nicks on the lugs from swapping straps but nothing that you'll care about with the naked eye. Lugs retain original beveled edges. Case diameter is 34-35 mm without the crown, lug width is 18 mm.
Crystal - Replacement crystal, no scratches.
Dial - Original, radium lume plots at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock intact. Can provide radium geiger measurements if wanted, just above background radiation levels. Dial shows nice cream discoloration with even speckled patination. This was easily my favorite aspect of this watch.
Hands - Original hour, minute and seconds hands. Please note that the second hands shows some corrosion proximal to the pinion. Please see pictures below, corrosion can be seen in the first picture. There is minor spotted corrosion on the hour and minute hands, consistent with the watch's age.
Crown - Standard service replacement crown which was on the watch when I bought it. As you may/may not know, the original scalloped crowns are as rare as hen's teeth, and so this crown is the one you'll see most commonly see on the ref 9024.
Movement - Cal 291, automatic. In excellent condition as pictured below.
Caseback - Per above, caseback enamel restored. Marking under the lug ("852") matches the inside of the caseback.
I've mostly purchased on OF, can provide sale reviews as well on request.
Will ship internationally with DHL. Watch is located in Ottawa, Canada.
Please let me know if you'd like additional pictures to clarify any questions, happy to oblige.
Thanks OF for the space as always,
-J.
