    Please your advice on this piece. The dial is extremely clean in comparison to the movement, which looks like it smells like slow-cooked barbecue. I don't know what to make of the markings on the caseback, and I would think a gold watch would have a hallmark on one of the lugs. Your thoughts?

    I think you'll find this thread very educational.

    FWIW - the "OT14702" is the reference number. I just googled that to find the above thread.

    I would put that serial at 1960, not 1959 by the way.

    Thank you for that. The OMEGA font looks more convincing than the one in the Dec 2017 thread, and the info about Japanese hallmarks is certainly interesting.

    Yes it looks like the one you show is the original and the one in the earlier thread is a later service dial replacing this one. The case maker is still a bit of a mystery but it is a more compelling buy than the other one.

    It doesn't necessarily need a hallmark anywhere but inside the caseback which is clearly hallmarked as 18 karat
