    Hi all!

Found this omega watch from a reseller going for US$1800. I think the dial has been changed as I can’t find similar picture on google. There is no omega logo on the case back as well. Hope to find out more on this watch. Appreciate your help and advice!

I'd like to see a straight on photo of the dial before I proclaim it a redial. I will tell you that it's very overpriced, imho.

Thanks efauser for sharing. Do you have more info about this watch? I am wondering if the reference is OT14702. How much so you think is worth? Attaching the photo below.

Really can't tell it is a redial from this one photo? How long you been here? OMEGA is waaay too thin and you never see swiss made spaced out like this.

the dial looks repainted. the case design looks like Omega used on Geneve models with an automatic caliber: 55 *

Think you are right. OT 14702 is for Geneva models but this piece comes with a caliber 285. Something is quite wrong here.

I was coming to exactly the same conclusion as Don, looks like a solid 18k gold non-Omega case. I don’t recognise the small flag hallmark in the case back, I’m thinking Brazilian flag for want of a better idea? As Xavyth suggests, the case profile is very 5xx which is wrong for a cal 285, and I’m not sure I’ve seen a 285 held into a case directly with screws instead of a normal screw and clamp. It’s an intriguing watch, but overpriced even for solid 18k.

There is something going on here but don’t comment on hallmarks unless you know them.

I’m inclined to say redial but not sure about the case at this point. It’s a non swiss market case but other then that??

I would steer clear personally. Looks is like a modern (well 80s on) thin script on the dial and likely a local Japanese case. The age of the movement (is that 18m so ~1961) and dial do not tally in the least so something doesn’t add up. Not a bad looking watch but probably not remotely original and rather expensive.

    Copied the above.
    1. Dial is redone. Reasons - script of "OMEGA" and "- SWISS MADE -" never seen such font.
    2. Though the case is nicely made. It is quite certain that it is not an authorised made/signed by Omega. Unlike Dennsion cases of UK.
    3. Value of the watch will NOT be more than the value of the Omega movement cal.285 and scrap of gold. Far below USD1,800.
    Hope it helps.

    O really?

How are you so sure? Can you name 5 regions that locally produced cases for Omega? And why, as well as the markings that should be on them?

Have you tracked the hallmarks down?

What about the identically marked case verified as real earlier this week. Was that highly respected member wrong?

Question: If white dials on older watches like this look "too white" and clean, is that indicative of a LIKELY redial/refinish?
