·Hi all, I inherited this Omega from my Grandad about 10 years ago.. I know the patina or strap is probably not to everyone’s taste, but I love it. I was told he wore it every day and would like me to do the same😀
I just wanted to ask if you could help me identify the year, and opinions really, if you think it is all original? And if the metal bracelet is the correct one (I always thought it looked too modern)?
I know that my Grandad had it serviced by the same shop I’ve taken it to.. I had it serviced when I inherited it, and again last year (I took it in as the winder was feeling slightly stiffer than usual) when I collected it a couple of weeks later l put the watch straight on my wrist, and within half an hour the watch had steamed up. I ran back to the shop and they apologised and said to leave it with them. I had a phone call the next day saying it would be sent away to Omega for a full service and rebuild. At the time I thought it was a good thing as I’d only paid for a basic service, but now I’m wondering if might’ve done more damage than good? I asked for an invoice of what had been done exactly, but they’d said they couldn’t give me one as they had paid for it all.
Anyway, here’s some pics, not sure if it’s enough to go by I will get some photos of the inside when I take it to my friend who has correct tools, I don’t want to risk damaging it
Many thanks
