Hi, I have come across this seamaster chronometre but I am a bit suspicious of the dial it just looks too clean and sharp The script says chronometer not chronometre and I am unsure about the hands I am waiting for movement and case back photos from the seller Would welcome views of other members
My gut says frankenwatch on this one. To me, the dial is suspect. The case reference is legitimate, but ties in with a non-chronometer cal. 354 movement. That being said, it was non uncommon at that time for Omega to use chronometer rated movements is some Seamaster references as an upgrade. See Ref. 2577 Seamasters. I don’t know if this was done for the Ref. 14925. In any case, even if all original, it is not worth the £2,000 being asked by the seller. gatorcpa
Your suspicions are correct. The first thing that jumps out is the Seamaster script. From 1953? I didn't look any further than that.
As stated you would expect to see ChronometRE not ChronometER in 1953. This seller/watchmaker is local to me, most of his watches are well over priced.
