I recently acquired this 1952 (possibly 1953) Seamaster 2577 at a local show, and at a great price. My trusted watchmaker sold it to me. Yeah, I know it's a bit grungy, but I don't care. In fact, I do fancy a bit of that aged look. I wear it, and don't worry about banging it around, just a bit. An original 2577 crown is on order. And I may see if I can find an original strap with buckle, and gasket. I'd like to see some other 50's Seamasters, no matter what condition. Show me some.

Very nice. Dial looks great with that strap. Congrats!
Thank you. I will probably be in the market for a nicer example, perhaps with the waffle/ honeycomb dial. But I've had so many of these, that it requires some patience.

Gasket, yes. Buckle, yes. But I would not want an original 75 year old strap. It will be too brittle and won't last long if you wear it.

I like the one you have on there now. It has the right vintage-y look.

I've kind of developed the same philosophy with vintage straps. Now if my modern Horween strap can fit that thick pin, that those vintage style buckles use. I guess I'll find out.

Is that solid or gold filled?
It’s gold capped and, given its age, there is some brassing so I use a jeweller's cloth to give it a gentle clean before I wear it.

In my opinion, your watch would look good on a tan leather strap or an Epsom leather strap - to give it a modern vintage feel.

I’ve got my gold capped bumpers on them

Several nice 2577s! Here's my 2577 Chronometre, early 1952 with low 12 million serial # Cal. 352...

Speaking of 1950's Seamasters, I saw this one on C24 the other day. Can someone explain this?

What are your top 15 things for which you need an explanation?

Well, for one, there's 4 hands. I've never seen a 4 handed Seamaster like this. My guess is this was edited, using AI.

If you go on C24, and put in "1952 Seamaster", you will see this posting from a Romanian seller. The other pictures are completely normal. Those two pictures, you will notice a fake background, most likely added with AI. This is why you don't use AI for your watch sale postings 😄

I think you already started a thread with this watch? Best not to tag onto another thread.

Those photos are VERY clearly AI generated. Note that the 'extra' hand actually changes lengths between the two photos! In the 1st its an extra minute hand, in the second, an extra hour hand!
