Good day everyone. New member here. Looking for your expert help here. This watch belonged to my grandpa but it’s been in a box in my closet for the past 40 years. I was amazed that it works after I wound it up. Amazing! Best I can tell it keeps time 3 minutes behind each hour. I’ve not opened it as I’m afraid to damage it. Can anyone tell me how old it is? I’ve seen similar ones on the web dating to the 1950s. Also, is it worth servicing it? Thank you in advance !

Nice one! And you have a black dial! Really special. Just take it to a watchmaker who has experience with servicing vintage watches. He can service the movement and polish the plexi. Or is that a crack in the plexi? On the inside of the caseback you can find the modelnumber and on the movement the serial. With yhis you can date the watch. You can ask the watchmaker to make pictures of this. Where are you at? Maybe we can help you finding a good watchmaker.

With a sympathetic service and clean up that will be a wonderful heirloom and reminder of your grandad.
Just make sure you go to a watchmaker who is sympathetic to vintage watches.
