Mafkees
·Dear OF,
I've been on a buying spree as of late and for me that means some others have to go, even if they are gems. And this one definitely falls into that category. Up for your consideration is my Cyma Navystar with an uncommon no lume gilt dial.
Highlights include the sharp case with a remarkably slim profile, thanks to the in-house manual cal. R459 (Ranfft: http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&&2uswk&Cyma_459). The watch was serviced in 2020 and runs very accurately. The slightly curved lugs are nice and 'grippy' around your wrist and make for comfortable wearing. At 35mm in diameter (excl. crown) it doesn't quite categorize as jumbo, but it wears nicely substantial regardless. The watch is all original.
The true highlight in this package, however, is the dial. Or rather, the highlights. I am of course referring to the amazing arrowhead markers. Due to the shape of the crystal and the black dial, this watch is inherently difficult to capture. I gave it a good shot though, both in natural light and beneath the intense lighting on my aquarium.
I feel the aquarium lighting shots capture particularly well the 'stardust' aging on the dial, whereas the natural lighting pictures showcase the arrowheads better. In both cases, the lighting is intense and the pictures are high-resolution, so imperfections may be exaggerated.
I can't tell if the caseback is slightly worn or polished, but the inscriptions are readable regardless.
The watch is 35mm in diameter and takes 18mm straps.
