Hello all

New to this forum - thanks for having me.

I have this 1947 omega watch; however, the unit doesn't work. It winds but does not tick. I took it to an omega botique and they estimated a very very hefty amount to send it to Switzerland for repairs and general reconditioning.

This is my only omega and I've never had to refurb a watch before. That said, it's a priceless piece to me so I'd like to get it working and done right.

I'm in the LA area, any suggestions about who to take it to to ensure its in good hands and fixed appropriately with genuine omega parts without having to lose a paycheck over it?

Photos attached.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

Nate

Hi Nate

What is the story with the Persian dial? How did you come by the watch?

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the delay in responses - I had a family emergency to attend to.

@MSNWatch - did you want me to reach out to Archer? Is he in LA? Any other recommendations?

Does anyone know the approximate value of this watch as well? It would be awesome to know.

Thank you
Nate

Hello Everyone,

Quick bump to let you know I got this bad boy ticking!

Now, I'd like to replace the dome glass. Any suggestions where to go? Is it even possible to have an "official" Omega glass put on it, or is that over kill? Would you suggest I go to a local watch maker/jeweler?

Please advise, I'm new to vintage watches and dont want to be taken.

Thanks everyone

Any chance you can share a better picture of the dial? Would love to see it.

Absolutely, its not with me currently but when I get to it I’ll snap a picture, likely this weekend.

I think everyone here would also love to know how you came to own the watch. Any history would be appreciated 👍
