Hey guys!

I just bought a new 2402-1 (10m serial) Seamaster and was looking for more information about it.
The concerns I have are:

-Is that the correct crown?
-What made the dial turn this one of a kind shade?
-Was the golden hands and hour markers sold on the S.S version, or is the dial (and most likely movement) from a gold case?

Thanks everyone for reading! I took a year or so off of vintage watches, and am happy to be back in it!

Hi there 😀

Welcome aboard Omegaforums, hopefully you'll stick around.

- The crown is an Omega replacement, the original type is unavailable, as far as I know. It would probably have been changed during a service the last 20-30 years 😉
- There are a few theories, but it could be lacquer degradation from UV exposure (perhaps combined with moisture ingress).
- I'm not an expert, but I'd say that your watch is quite correct. Loads of examples of this sort of metal mixing 😉

Hi ConElPueblo,

Thanks for your reply!

Haha yea, I don't post very often but enjoy reading through other posts.

Lacquer degradation from UV exposure, combined with moisture. That's actually a long the lines of what I was thinking myself. Looks like I'll be on the search for the no longer made original crown.

Is this the crown I should be looking for?

Thanks for reading guys!
