·I'm selling my 1940s Girard-Perregaux Seahawk. I bought this watch many years ago because I was seduced by the look, but it was at the beginning of my foray into this hobby when I knew very little. While this was a man's watch when it was new, at 32mm across (without the crown) the watch was too small for my modern tastes, so my wife has worn it ever since.
This is one for a true enthusiast or watchmaker as it needs some work. While it runs strongly and keeps reasonable time, it is well overdue for a service and definitely needs a new crystal. Also, lume is missing from the seconds and minute hands. It was last serviced in 2001, and was fitted with a new strap at the end of last year, just before my wife stopped wearing it due to an Watch Christmas present. The watch has never been polished and the facets are all nice and sharp. There is no box or papers. Based on the Timezone Grading System the watch is in Fair to Good condition.
The starting price for negotiation is US$200
Tracked and signed-for domestic postage is included in the sale. I would also be open to a face-to-face transaction within a 200km radius of Cooma, NSW, and possibly also Sydney and Brisbane. International enquires are welcome, but we will need to talk in detail about shipping. Payment by direct deposit/wire is preferred, but this too can be discussed.
I've been a watch collector for 18 years, and have numerous references for purchases and sales through watch forums and eBay. Message me with any questions or for extra high-resolution photos.
