Hi fellow members,

I’m a newbie here and was recently offered an Omega that claims to be a Naiad by a local jeweler. I was told this piece was from the 1930s with caliber 231 printed on the movement but I am not able to get any related infos from the net that matches this piece. Can anyone from the forum help me out with you precious knowledge?
Seller claimed it to be 100% authentic/original.
Pictures attached are from the jeweler.

Any related info/Quick legit check about this pieced will be much appreciated.
Thanks !

Well, the first thing to jump out at me was this...

This alone would be enough for me to walk away...

The dial is 100% not authentic / original.
Hi jumpingsecond,

Thank you for the confirmation but may I know if it’s just a repainted one or totally Frankenstein dial ?

Ya at least a movement holding screw must be off…

There is almost nothing that the jeweler is telling you is correct. Neither that reference nor the movement are from the 1930's. Dial is suspect and it's debatable whether that movement was ever in that reference, when it left Omega.

Also it seems like the back of the case has notches.
The back of a Naiad case is a very specific design, it does not have notches and the fact that those pictures appear to hide the back is highly suspicious.
If it amuses you to play with the seller you could ask for a picture of the case back. Otherwise I would just run away.

From 1940 I believe the case had 3 notches. I understand it changed to 4 or more after with the next version.

Since the movement wasn’t designated as a 231 until around 1949 IIRC, I’d say this “local jeweler” has no idea of what he is talking about.
