1861 inconsistent after recent service

Hello all,

Was hoping to get opinions or advice - I started a thread recently about how my recently serviced watch stops running:

I had isolated the problem to the chronograph movement - if it was not running, there were no issues with the watch. If it did run, on a full wind, both the hands/seconds hand and chrono could stop anywhere between 5 minutes and 15 hours afterwards. The movement would restart upon stopping and starting the chrono.

This was about 2 weeks ago. Now - the watch runs perfectly fine. I've run several multi day tests of running the watch with the chronograph activiated and a full wind, and it doesn't stop at all.

Is this common after service? For a watch to run inconsistently for the first few days and then start working normally? Or should I just send it back to Omega?

You’re welcome, but this is only temporary. Unless you pay for a tier 1 subscription we will voodoo your watch again.

Document the problems. If you don't have any issues right now, just sit tight. If it happens again send it back. You have 2 years under the warranty to fix any issues.

I have no idea if this is common, but since you have 2 years to sort it out I would not worry. Well, other than being without your watch for a few weeks or months if it needs to go back.

Does not sound normal to me. Before sending it back in, I'd ask about rate and amplitude and beat error in the different positions after the service. Somebody must have done a measurement of those to determine that the watch is ok.
If the dealer can't find the measurement printout or electronic record, ask them to repeat the measurements for you. Maybe it's as simple and easily correctable as the beat being way off; low amplitude (at reasonable wind) on the other hand would indicate that the service was not done correctly.
