Exactly what I'm wearing, 1861 + Uncle Seiko Flat Link Bracelet. I got the 1861 big box version with great discount. I'll wait on the 3861, no rush.

·It depends on the discount, I suppose. As a current 1861 owner (3570.50), I think the 3861, in both Hesalite and sapphire, is a big jump forward, and worth a premium, even over a heavily discounted 1861.

·I wish they had improved the water resistance to 100m. I read that you can swim with it but no diving. Nice that it is finally METAS certified but can’t get over the fact that the Seamaster is a lot cheaper with ceramic/sapphire plus is an automatic with a date complication. Bracelet also has better on the fly adjustments.... and yet I still want a Speedmaster. What’s wrong with me?

Oh they can do a 100m depth rated Speedy in the Pro case, you can even have it with a chronometer rated Co-ax movement too. In fact they did it over 10 years ago. No one cares though:

I was offered some freebies (NATO and watch roll ) by AD but told no discounts on these models at this point, given the demand. Same on the NTTD and a few other SMP models (black and white dial). Have no local OB that open atm.

I was offered a small discount from my AD but was offered a much larger (20%) on the 1861 so I went with that!!! I'm sure, within a year, discounts on the 3861 will be just as common!!

·Jumping on this as I'm in a similar situation. Got offered the 3861 with sapphire at 5700 EUR (4900 GBP) by the local AD here. Are there better deals to be had on the 3861?
Secondly, it would be my first speedmaster so just a bit reluctant with going with a watch that's a bit disconnected from the original. Am I right thinking that? Especially when you can still get unworn 1861 with Hesalite.
