Hi OF,
my last pic up at a local auction house was this 176.002 with black dial. I was attracted by the case ( shape and patina ) and gave it a try. Now at my hands I am pleased with its overall condition: I will wear it and orobably will add more buffs anndings to it. My thought now is: can I apply the assessmend guidelines we know from speed101 to this reference? I will try but hope others more familiar to this reference will support this attempt:

Reference:
a 176.002 with a correct 1040 movement inside.
To be honest: I could not find a movement-serial anywhere visible so this so my guess is: the rotor has been changed during service... All functions ok.

Case:
To me the case seems to be untouched since it shows the sunburst milling with pretty sharp edges and a lot of dings, scratches from use. These heavy cases seem to be prone to hit other stuff. The milling of the flanks is fading but still visible. The bow of the flanks seems to be even, towards the bottom of the watch it has polished phases. The caseback only has minimal leftovers of the hippocpus and writing. Fresh or later brushing or just regular wear?

Pushers, crown:
Original ones? Tbh, not sure about that.

Crystal:
lots of tiny scratches visible from the side.

Dial/hands:
very clean with no scratches or discolorations. Hands very fresh?

Bracelet:
1162/172 with lot of stretch and wear. Clasp functional. At the points of contact to the case heavy wear.

Originality:
Watch with lot of honest wear. Lost its original rotor during service and maybe got a service dial and hand during this procedure.

In terms of the 101 caregories I see this as a watch in fair condition.

Comments welcome!

Now some pics: ( sorry for the poor quality )

Have a niceweekend,

caselock

Hi,
There are a few of showstoppers on this:
  • the caseback has lost his engraving
  • the rotor is a service one (no movement serial number)
  • the case is in very bad shape
