Time Exposure
·I have a silver dial All-Guard. It runs and keeps time. Like many vintage examples, the service history is unknown, and it is being sold as-is. When I found it, it looked...sad.
I replaced the crystal (which revealed a decent original dial), replaced the minute and hour hand (kept the short sweep seconds hand), replaced the corroded stem (no other corrosion I can see) and crown (which was probably not original in the first place).
The case has rounded edges from wear and has small nicks all over. I gave it a sympathetic polish on the flat surfaces (to keep from further rounding of the edges). I didn't like the shine so gave it a satin finish befitting of its age and overall condition. I did not remove two small initials that appear to have been placed there by its previous owner with a hand-held engraver.
Ask me why I love it? I feel like I rescued it. But I'm moving on. Taste being subjective, I must say this style is my favorite of the 50's. I like these even more than the spectacularly handsome beefy-lug Seamasters. There. I said it.
$240 USD. Price includes USPS Priority Mail, insurance extra. I will ship ONLY TO A US ADDRESS. PayPal accepted at no extra cost to you. I am not interested in trades. I can be reached (best) by e-mail: metersfirst AT gmail DOT com. Thanks! Bryan Brooks
