168.027 W/ Dauphine Hands?

I'm on the hunt for a vintage connie and am torn between a C-case 168.027 and a pie pan 168.005 or 167.005. What draws me to the 168.027 is the white gold bezel. I love how aged white gold contrasts with the SS case. I also already have a 166.032 Seamaster and don't want another day date, so I prefer the 168.027 over the 168.029. The stick hands just seem kind of boring to me compared to the dauphine hands on dog leg connies.

I have however seen some 168.027s with dauphine hands. Were these modified/frankens, or did some C-case connies actually come with dauphine instead of stick hands?

If you google, you’ll see some 168.017s with dauphine hands 😀

Here's mine.

I think the hands make these even more elegant.

Some 168.017 had those hands, of course without gold bezel but may be easier to find

168.027 W/ Dauphine Hands: Definitely original and definitely very uncommon

It's hard to find a non-lumed thick indice dial inside a 168.027

Here was my c-case. I prefer the versions with the dauphine hands over stick.

The white gold bezel on the 168.027 does add a touch of elegance, and I totally get why you're drawn to it. As for the hands, the dauphine hands on the dog leg Connies do have a certain charm to them.

Regarding the 168.027s with dauphine hands, it's possible that some of them could be modified or frankens, as the stick hands were more common for that model. However, it's always a good idea to do some research and consult with trusted experts or collectors to verify the authenticity of any specific watch you're interested in. They'll have more insights into the variations and details of these vintage beauties. Good luck with your search, and I hope you find the perfect vintage Connie for your collection!

Man I'm kicking myself now! I passed on a dauphine hand 168.027 with onyx markers on C24 a while back thinking it must have been 168.005 hands franken'ed onto a c-case dial!!! Oh well, now I know for when I see one come up again.

A 027 linen dial with dauphine hands would be my grail C-case. I’ve only seen a few 017s with them before this thread. Dauphine hands definitely look the best but unfortunately aren’t very common. This is a case where I would be open to acquiring hands separately and swapping them onto the right watch.

Is it like Rolex that only the serrated bezels are gold?
