Hi all,

So, I will be doing something probably stupid and trying to fit an 1171 I have to my 18k 168.022 Jumbo when I get it back from service at Omega this week.

I wanted to reach out to those of you far more knowledgeable in regard to vintage Omega than I and ask if anyone had any idea what end link might work, or what end link might be a good starting point for modification. Ideally, an end link that is gold plated would be used since the watch and the bracelet are both gold.

Picture for fun / reference:

You'd probably need to slightly modify 560 endlinks. So I think that your best bet would be to find 560 endlinks and get them plated as I'm not aware of gold plated variants existing. The correct "president" style bracelet for this model would be the 1125 which is made for a 19mm lug width. I believe the 1171 is similar, but made for a 20mm lug width. It may look a little odd, but likely would be fine.

The last inner link on the 1171 should be about 9.1mm and the last inner link on the 1125 should be 8.9mm, so I would assume that you would need to shave off .2 at the opening of the end link. Check out this great guide.

Also, see the list of correct bracelets for this model. I believe the only one that is still available from Omega is the 1125. I'm unsure if you can buy the endlinks separately though.

Thank you! Immense help, I appreciate linking up those resources as well. I went ahead and ordered up a couple of 560 end links. I will open them up a hair, have them plated, and see how it works out. I guess worst case now I know I can order an 1125 from Omega; do you know if they are available in gold or plated?

I would really love to find a 1098 like this, but it's been a needle in a hay stack:

You can always ask, but I've never tried to order one myself. I would guess not, but who knows what they have lying around. The 1098 I would say is even harder to find. I have your watch in stainless steel and after about 8+ months or so, I was finally able to track down a steel pair at a relatively affordable price. Now that I think about it, I may have an option that might interest you. I'll send you a DM.

I'd actually love to know the reference, if you're able to easily get it. Any idea what # endlinks those are? They look just like the pair of 48's that I have.

That bracelet is stamped OMEGA on the clasp, but neither it nor the end links have a ref #. I also have this, bracelet ref 1069 with 524 ends:

I suspect the 1069 is original to the watch shown. The other is clearly not. Hope this helps.

Just a question, is the 168.022 really considered a “Jumbo” ?

Ehhh...its not a jumbo by modern standards, but I personally find the case to be larger and have a "modern" feel. I'm not sure why exactly, but everyone seems to label them as "jumbo"

Jumbo is a mid century term to describe a watch that measures 37mm diameter, that is, larger than 'oversize'

It is a marketing name. A ref. 2505 is jumbo, this is not. Have noticed in eBay the term jumbo is being inappropriately used for any watch above 35mm!
