Hello, could someone please tell me how you determine which crown is correct for a reference? Specifically I’m looking at a 1962 dog leg non pie-pan Constellation and it has a knurled crown. A lot of examples I have found searching on the internet have similar but I believe the correct crown is the decagon sided.
Coincidentally there is a similar watch in private sales and the seller mentions a member has told them the knurled crown may not be original. Seemed wrong to ask my question on their sale thread!

Note that originally, it was a flat foot logo on the thin decagonal. There are service crowns that have the more modern Omega logo, but most of all the internet is flooded with repros. It’s up to you to decide wether or not you’d be ok with that, as they do have the same form, just wanted to mention it.

Thanks for getting back to me. A non original crown would bother me, I am way too uptight 😀

I’ve already been offered the correct crown by another member so all good.

I could find lots of examples of the ref on the internet with the knurled crown. I found 2 examples on the forum in private sales, one from 2020 that didn’t have any details on the crown and the current one already mentioned. One thread with a redial but the correct crown and a youtube video from “watch enthusiast” I think showing off the ref that said it came with the 10 side crown.

I was asking without loads of hope in case both types were used! If I buy it I’ll post pics …
