165.024 Crystals for CB or HF case. Any difference?

Three part question really. . I'm asking if anyone knows if there are any differences in the crystals, or tension rings of either CB or HF case.
I've searched and searched but the only difference I've found mentioned was in the dome shape between the Factory service ones and the original ones. What size were they?
Can anyone elaborate and supply part numbers as I'm looking for an original and not a service one unless it's strongly advised against an NOS one because they go brittle? Maybe someone has one going spare? These are both from 66/67

The only difference that I am aware of is among cases marked SP or SP2. I am not sure if there are SP marked CB cases, but there are standard HF cases, SP marked HF cases, and SP2 marked HF cases.

Good point. I've added a photo. Thanks

Frankly, I’m not sure if those photos really add anything to your question.

One is a caseback from a standard HF case and another is a caseback from a standard CB case. Because they are not marked SP or SP2, they would take the standard crystal for a 165.024 or 166.024 (same crystal). The crystal listed on the crystal lists in this forum should be the one you need.

I’ve seen some seemingly original flat foot crystals with a dome and I’ve seen some flat foot crystals installed in these watches with a flatter top. I think both may be original, but the flatter one is somewhat uncommon. I doubt you’ll be able to find one of the flatter ones (i’ve only ever seen them installed on watches)

Thanks, the only reason for that photo was to rule out the SP/SP2 variant. Thanks for your input. The one currently in the CB case is aftermarket and has terrible optics with distortion when viewed at a slight angle, and why I want a new original 😀 cheers. Paul

Totally makes sense. I have yet to find an aftermarket crystal that fits these cases and the dials well.

Omega doesn’t really recognize the different case suppliers, so that alone is not a deciding factor in what parts are used.

166024 - 063PZ5076

166024 SP - 063PZ5152 - this crystal is 1/2 a mm taller than the one above.

Regarding the crystal question, even the part number was the same, there were at least 2 different original crystal designs.
The first one, used cca by end of 1966, had a brass retaining ring and slim tall omega logo in the centre.
The later one has a nickel silver retaining ring and small slim omega logo. Both are flat top crystals.
The service piece is more domed in shape, nickel silver retaining ring and small thick omega logo.

A said, there is no relevance in case maker, as all the crucial dimensions are all the same.
