Embarrassing, just embarrassing. After having been in contact with Wesselink by email (sent them pictures and told them I could not set the date); they referred me to the Swatch Group here in Netherlands. After having been in contact with them they redirected me to their office in Brussels - they told me the spare parts were out of date, and I would have to had it sent to Switzerland for "restoration". It was not an option because the price would exceed the watches value. In a very last effort, I contacted another local watchmaker who redirected me to another watchmaker. After a phone conversation, the watchmaker offered to come by my place and take a look at the watch. I learned that the date could only be set by winding the hours between certain points; the watch indeed works fine.... We agreed to have it serviced.
