hi all,

A local collector wants to sell these datejusts, this White roman or Buckley dial 1601 really caught my eye. The asking price isnt above the sky but anything specific to be aware for vintage Datejust in particular as I absolutely have no past experience with them. The lume plots looks pretty nice too. Are they underrated at the moment 😒?
Can I ask for opinions on this piece?

It’s not my favorite DJ dial... it’s dressy on a watch that’s that’s an everyday watch.

In my opinion it’s lacking what makes the DJ so great. The balance is just not there. You may feel different and that’s great! Just not a DJ I’d ever chase.

The asking price is 2k ? Is it a fair price?

Yeah fair price.

But also agree with foo2rama regarding the dial..

At 2k I’d be tempted to see what dials are available on eBay for it.

on ebay most of 1601 reaching 3k and more 😲😲 so maybe he prices the piece according to the undesirability of the dial 🍿🍿

Nice buckley dial 1601, but that bracelet on it is not OEM. Also pie pan buckley dials should have come with silver hands. Black hands weren't introduced until the late 70's with the 5-digit reference DJ's.

Next to the wide boy, the Buckley is my favorite DJ dial. They don’t seem to age well, but this dial looks very nice. It’s my experience that it will bring a premium over more common dials.

I have checked in person, the dial got toughed up so I passed 😀 but definitely I will try to get one in the future
