105.012-65 worth pursuing?

Well 25m might be right in the upper case, so it could be a case back swap and then it could be an otherwise original 105.012-66 with a contemporary service bezel. Though we would need a few more digits of serial to compare with known speedmaster movements.

I am recalling the old london watchmaker who told me he would care not which speedmaster back went on which, as he serviced them in batches in the 1970's.

Except here I agree with others that this is a mess of parts, thrown together.

Look at the colour difference in the bridges:

Right you could be, could.😀 But the gamble is only worth the parts and if someone wants a watch I wouldn't recommend him to buy it based on could be's.

Concerning the serials and references. The last resort would be the outlayers theory but this chart for me: http://www.moonwatchonly.com/omega-...view-of-the-speedmaster-moonwatch-production/

Sorry if I was misleading : This watch is DEFINITELY thrown together, and the movement is also.

Its a big fat DNB.

(Do Not Buy)

But this is not a 66. Read all post before replying.

EDIT: sorry, he removed relevant pictures, caseback is a 65 HF.

Didn’t he mean the ‘66 Porsche ?

You really don't need to buy a 'wrongunn' mate.😀 There are bound to be much better examples of this reference offered for sale at some point.👍

I keep reading about the better examples of 105.012s which will come along but every time I see one worth while it has gone up quite a bit since the last time I saw one. 🙁

This does seem to be true, but you only need one!👍 I think those who have them are hanging on to them at the moment.
I'm really enjoying wearing mine at the moment. Makes me feel good.😀

Geeez Jonathan, how did you actually ‘see’ them? With binoculars?! You must have been sitting 0.5km away 😀
Yes it was the other end of the London Stadium....... but if you had wrist band you could make your way down onto the standing area for a closer view. The Rolling Stones were on form and It was a really great evening.

The only dodgy bit was was walking from Wealdstone Junction Railway Station (An area with a high crime rate in North West London), back to my friends house, at 12:30am, wearing a 321, pre-moon, Omega Speedmaster worth thousands of pounds.😲 Not one of my best ideas.😟 I wont be doing that again!:whipped:

Funny but I reckon I bought my first Rolling Stones Album, 'Out of Our Heads', some time around 1967 or 1968???😕 About the same time my Dad bought his Omega Speedmaster Professional 105.012-65. Good move Dad.😀

That’s the problem with Speedmasters. The cheapest shiniest one costs thousands of pounds...surely the beat-up looking funny colored dialed one will be more inconspicuous thus safer (unless the criminals read William’s blog)?

Yes particularly when you lose your nerve, pop your Pre-Moon Speedy into a soft spectacles case and drop it down your trousers into your under pants!😲

Ask the seller where he got the parts from. This Speedy is obviously assembled from a parts bin..and he is a watchmaker, he should be able to answer that question

perhaps all the original replaced parts are still there.
