For the sake of completeness the final selling price was $8000us. Any thoughts on whether this is good value for this one?

Generally, there is such thing as good restoration job involving vintage things, especially in watches with new/original replacement parts. overall, this is one of those which is still very much classic. i am not surprised with the outcome at all.

Thanks for your thoughts @Screwbacks. I agree there is such a thing as good restoration. I'm trying to work out at $8000US whether there is enough room left to undertake restoration or whether better to source an original in better condition as suggested in previous posts.
