No so necessarily. There have been periods when sterile crystals have been factory fitted it seems, I haven't seen definitive evidence tying this in with particular years though. I am guessing that beer belly is referring to this.

Re: Logo on crystal: some early nineties models came without a logo, in fact I was looking for exactly this when I hunted a 3590 from that period. Found a first owner full set, blue goo still on the back, no logo on crystal. Info on that can also be found in MWO.

I was not in the need as of today to have a dial relumed but now I know to whom I would send it to, outstanding work.
