Yup. Hammer at £9k on the nose. Interestingly there was several bids around £7-7.5 so that’s where a lot of people wanted to be with it. Obviously a couple were keen and took it further

Yup. Saw that too. And guilty; I was one of them. If I would have been in the UK, I would have bid more.
Hope the buyer is among us and has acquired a watch which cleans up at least as nicely as I think it will. 😉

Did the Box and Papers get folks excited? It looks like it has good bones, but a bit much of a gambol at this price for me!

Don't know, for me personally; not really. You can't wear a Box and Papers, right? That said, I do have to admit that the full set speaks for the honesty of this piece, especially combined with the bracelet and lovely (read: dirty) condition of it.

Maybe. I had a cheeky bud, fully expecting to be short but given the slowish market and it being mid summer, I didn’t want to log on and find it went for £6800 hammer.

I can see how if you’re in the market for an Ed White, this is one of the most honest to appear for a while and collectors always pay a premium for dirt and gunk (or at least I do!). It gives a good indication that no one has messed with it over the last ten or so years when prices have skyrocketed.

Had it been a 105.012, id have been battling it out at the sharp end with someone!

Does the case look like it is corroded or is it just grime?

Do the Speedmaster101 price chart numbers for auction pieces include buyers premium, or just hammer price?

It’s sale price so must include all fees

I wondered that as well tbh.
The auction hse mentioned pitting in their description and wasn’t 100% certain they were only referring to the bezel.
Hopefully it turns out ok

thanks so that comes to just under $16,000- which is the number for Very Good. Would anyone here judge this to be Very Good in its current state?

Don’t forget the price chart is head only. You have to add additional value for bracelet, box, papers.

I think there’s minimal/no pitting on that case

I’ve seen the picture. I think most of its dirt and grime. Perhaps a very small amount at 6 o’clock but that may well also be dirt.

Do you think differently or are you just posting the picture?

Yup. I am pretty sure you've guessed correctly. I guess the auction will get a bit more attention and OF is left with a thread which is absolutely useless without the original post. I'll update my response with details on the auction for posterity, later.

For posterity; all pictures shared by the auction house attached. From my perspective, we're looking at an honest, genuine piece which could be fully correct (crown is 32 tooth, debatable) and will likely clean up nicely.
