1035 elastic links refurbishment possible?

Hi all,

A friend has a lovely 'Ed White' from 66 I believe, which is on a 1035 bracelet. The problem is that the elastic/stretchy links are no longer 'tight' and look generally a bit out of shape (haven't seen in the flesh).

My question is if it is possible at all to have these refurbished or tightened up a bit? And if so, anyone in Europe (preferably) that does this kind of work?

Otherwise, is there any other solution you may have? My first thought was to replace these with non-stretchy variety, but don't know if this is possible for this bracelet design.

Thanks in advance,
Lou

To illustrate, here are some pictures:

Yes it is possible to fix. I would not recommend replacing with fixed links. The value and uniqueness of the flexible flat link bracelets is in the those links.

Thanks for you input, I totally understand and agree with you. I think that without this issue fixed, that bracelet will be kept in a drawer somewhere...

Going by your photos, it looks like someone that hadn't a clue what they were doing has had a go at a repair and totally fυcked up.
Your friend needs to send the bracelet to a professional that knows what they're doing.

Many thanks for this! 😀
I take it the spring fits the 1035 as well, given the similarity in link sizes?
I have some of these inbound from them - give me a week or so and I can measure for you. (I have a 1039 band that needs some new springs)

I will say @dennisthemenace does have a fair point.... I believe this guy in Hong Kong is well respected in refurbishing bracelets if that’s a more viable option for you http://www.classicwatchrepair.com/

Thank you for that, i appreciate it!

Regarding the classic watch repair guy, i had read about him years ago but had forgotten. Will forward the link to my friend eitherway... 👍

@m84 Send the bracelet to Michael Young in HK.
He has repaired dozens of them for me. Hands down the best in the business.
Just make sure to note to leave the bracelet Unpolished. Otherwise you’ll get back a shiny and polished (factory spec) bracelet which will not match the condition of the watch.

I recommend you get a quote from www.replateit.com. They did amazing work replating and repairing a bracelet I sent them. Price quotes are in canadian currency, so there is some benefit with exchange rates at the moment.
