December 6, 2009 was the day I went to visit my parents, mentioned that I was looking for a new watch and my father said he had some old watches in a drawer upstairs. There was a few dresswatches from the 1950-60's and this Speedmaster. My father inherited the Speedmaster from a friend that died around 1980 from cancer, it been been in the drawer since then because my father found it to big to wear Knew nothing about watches so asked on a Danish Watch forum what I got from my father an it turned out to be a ref. 145.012-67. This started my interest for vintage Omega and I got Seamaster 30 for a daily wearer, then i got one more and one more and then it went wrong and today's count in the collection is 179 vintage Omega's. There is no theme in my collection, I buy what I like and I have periods where it could be 1950' manual dress or others themes I prefer. I dont have the funds the buy a lot of Speedmaster and other expensive Omega's so I stay in the low price range and try to find them in good original condition or the older ones with acceptable patina. I owe a big thank you to Omegaforums for the knowledge I have been given through this forum, I have learned so much here over the years Best Thomas The Speedmaster that started my collection: Constellation: Seamaster: Genéve: Ranchero: Suverän/Officer:
A truly amazing collection- that demonstrates Omega’s real breadth as a manufacturer. There’s just so many all time greats aren’t there! Thanks for sharing Nathan
Erm... wow, hats off to you for an amazing collection over 20 years! I don't think I could dream of having a collection like yours Thomas, I'm sure you realise you could easily reduce and upgrade to some special pieces there. I've already decided to limit myself to about 10-12, if I ever get to that number and wanted another, I'd consider replacing one with an upgrade. Like you I don't think I'll be in a position to buy 'high end' so am keeping an eye out for what peeks my interest. Thankyou for sharing.
Only 10 years, and yes i have often considered to reduce the collection and go after some grails I cant afford to day. But prices for these grails are so high now and the value of my dress Omega's low at it takes maybe 20 of them to get a grail Omega to day, and then I just keep them
My reaction to this post: I like the way you think, Thomas! That's exactly what I would have done if I had the funds.
A diverse and stunning collection Well done. although you honestly don’t need to break diversity with 3 white dial broad arrow rancheros...I might know someone who could help you...
Thank you Thomas for sharing your story and fantastic collection. Do you have any other makes of watches besides Omega?
Don´t be so modest Thomas, this is a terrific collection , its not all about Speedies - there is a lot to collect besides them... But what is still missing is a 30 T2 chronometer, or did I overlook it among these many photos?
Woow! Now I know why there is a shortage in vintage omegas for sale. Impressive taste and quality of collection. It's pleasing to see a watch museum this varied in one collection. Tfs.
Killer work sir! I second the sentiment about consolidating if there are grails you want. Don’t let the high price of a grail set you back. Once you fund one, trust me, you’ll easily fund another one. Thanks for sharing your passion.
Thanks, you get a little starstruck looking on all the amazing Omega's in here 30 T2 Chronometer is on the my list The combination of a decent one for sale and having the funds available haven't lined up
