« Weird » looking military SM300

Hi all!

I came across this, to say the least, weird looking military 165.024
From my very limited knowledge, it seems to differ from the regular ton of fakes lying around…The bezel looks good to me and the dial kind of does too if it wasn’t for that circled T usually found in true bottom. Caseback engravings covering a regular caseback instead of a plain one…
It almost seems to me like someone butchered a classic BT SM300 to give it military features.
No idea what the listing says as it’s a screenshot in Japanese 😁

Or maybe I’m imagining things and it’s a full good old fake!
Just for the sake of knowledge 😀

IMO: forget the T and the engravings if interested. dial and hands original (lume removed - OK, better than having lume in the movement),
case: hard to see, if polished,
bars: wait for the specialists
always hard to judge without loupe , UV light and having the watch in your hands...

I would not buy and pay for these two......

but: this might be a rare bird - might be. At the local flea-market I would buy the watch for a reasonable price.


Without having this watch under my nose: minefield ahead, but let s wait for the T-profs.

I don’t know the exact changeover point (or if there even is a precise point) but the switch to CB occurred around the early 25m serials I believe. The bezel type aligns with other CB cased watches.

This flat top 1 B3 bezel is mostly found on HF cases, so very probably was swapped.
Switch in HF/CB id cca mid 1967, starting with cca 25 mil... but the line is not sharp of course.
All other parts seems legit and if I can have a piece of SN, can tell more then...
Based on the caseback engraved serial, I`d place it to the UK military batch from SEP69, 27.5mil...

Seen this one too... But I do find myself wondering; has anyone ever seen a Big Triangle Mil-Spec 165.024 with the circled T mark above the hands? So far, I've only found them with the T below, or with a small triangle dial as as basis.

Wow that’s the most ridiculous advice ever.

i am still wondering why people comment and then say wait for the experts. I mean if i have no clue i don’t even comment. Maybe i raise a question to learn something

Native English or not has nothing to do with knowledge given , when asked for. Your knowledge of Military SM 300 seems zero. The OP did ask for the miliary features on the above SM. Engravings and dial. You answer for a civil version , which has no relevance here. If you feel the urge to respond to a different version , why do it in the first place? Just to get a price/value for your own civil SM300 ? That is one problem with your Post here. Not relevant. Confusing. Not helpful.

That’s all correct what u say and if u magnify the movement pic you can see the serial starts with 2

i wouldn’t bother about the bezel or any part as for military watches keeping them in working condition was everything. So if the bezel was cracked it got changed…. Not bright enough in the night, relumed, so nothing would me surprise. Judged from the case condition this one hasn’t seen much action maybe a drunk walk to the officers club.

Why the hands have no lume can just ba an assumption that it was lost after active service but who cares.

the T above the center post is legit and there are even fat and slim print versions.

just my uneducated 50cents and no recommendation to buy

Dial: legit, I own a big triangle with high located circled T by myself.
Bezel: legit, but earlier version, so it might have been swapped as said before.
Case, crown, welded bars: legit.
Caseback: legit, there is no real switch point for HF>CB regarding MIL SM300.
Engraving: legit, fat engraving on unpolished caseback started from issue no. 31x/70 on.
