That’s all we need , a thread about a peloton of people trying to peddle their wares about Velocipedes . And so the cycle begins again and around & around it will go until someone gets tyred.

Or cranky.

Enough of the old kronky flakey bikes already let's move forward to some modern vintage such as this last of the real Mongoose bikes.
Bought this one only a month or so ago, cost $US3,500 back in the day (1999 release date).

Absolutely. However Gazelle is now losing it to the hipsterbikes like Van Moof.

I own an Azor. Yet another league. Something like this

Whats the rule regarding e bikes on the commuter paths these days? Those things are becoming a nuisance out my way.

Bought new in 1998. For $1700. It’s been upgraded since. Could do a front disc but I’m not riding it hard anymore.

No rules I think for normal speed ones. The real fast ones need a helmet and licence plate but you hardly see them in town. But bike paths in the city are extremely crowded sometimes. This is a famous one

Wandered, jet lagged into one of those paths with luggage outside central station. A wall of steely eyed cyclists showed no mercy, didn’t even slow down.

You’re lucky if the don’t scream at you. One of the other things us locals hate is tourists on rental bikes 😁

How about tourists asking for the nearest coffee shop?

My Brodie that I bought new 25 years ago. Still my only bike, until my new Giant gravel bike arrives in a few weeks. Lots of memories stored up on this

This thread may have set a record for quickest drift off topic. That said. I’m a Brooks fan too….nothing better.
I have had plenty of brooks and must say that Gilles Berthoud saddles are the best.

Berthouds are superior in every way to Brooks... I understand the love for Brooks though but Gilles makes a remarkable saddle.
Truthfully Brooks slide downhill when they were acquired by Selle Italia.

We hate them as well. I - honestly - don't know anyone who smokes weed.

Did not know that. The GB saddles actually do look less fiddly and better made. Of course there is an SI saddle on my FSR pictured above that I also find very comfortable. The Brooks on my Waterford is well broken in so honestly it’s staying.

What year is your Waterford? Beautiful whip indeed.

Those bikes look like a lot of fun
Not sure if I have told this tale on OF before, but

Riding the Holdsworth fixie down a narrow country lane two horse riders are coming in the other direction. I say loudly "Hello, are your horses OK with bikes" apparently this helps horses believe that you are a human similar to the sort who feeds them and not a slavering horse-eating beast that hasn't eaten this month [*]. Yes, they're OK.

Then a shot-gun goes off in an adjacent field. Both horses bolt, I dive out of their way and land upside down in a ditch still clipped in to the pedals. Horse riders say most unladylike things about whoever fired that shotgun and ask if I'm OK. Yeah, I'm OK, but somehow my chain has come off. Fixie riders have to be really particular about chain tension and there is no way it should come off. But it did.

[*] Doesn't matter what you say out loud if you're on a recumbent bike: to a horse you're a slavering horse-eating beast that hasn't eaten this year.

Curious. No contribution from @Mad Dog yet.
What was the question?

I’ve been out of the loop due to being out on my vintage Trek 8000…
