Blue dials from the era all go crazy. I also collect yema and you will see the same “patina”
Is this then considered desirable?

I've also picked up a glossy 1002 recently. Absolutely love it. Just need to find a decent bracelet now. Think I'm going to go for a 78350 for a bit of modern-ish security as I intend to wear it a lot!

Damn, that’s a stunner! Love the perfectly discolored tritium plots. Dibs please!😀

I guess I’ll add this now, while I’m still waiting for that black dialed ‘63 1002 to get here.

This is a 1008 from 1967 that I recently picked up. I wasn’t looking for a 1008, but when I saw its condition, I simply surrendered to it. Turns out, it’s wonderful.

What a great example of the first generation of the Zephyr. The 34 mm Rolexes are true treasures because the movements are exactly the same classic movements found in the 36mm cases...and the cost of buying one is usually much less. Though the 14k gold models in 34mm are also very special...and Rolex also make some 18k models. And there are always the 34mm with Bombe lugs. Thankfully the bulk of the watch market is obsessed with big watches, and that leaves so much of the 34mm models available to us at great value.

No. It’s moisture damage.

I wouldn't say that's moisture damage, really common across numerous brands from that era, typically 70's. Apparently it was down to a poor paint mix for the blue colour around that time. In nearly all cases the paint seems to get eaten away around the lume plots or markers.

It doesn't add to value, but it certainly wouldn't put me off and hasn't in the past as I've owned at least three like it from various brands, all were blue dials.

I wish I could add a watch to this thread but as my one and only Rolex has a date complication, it seems those are ruled out😟(perhaps we need our own thread😉) Great viewing though this thread, love a nice 34mm.
