You guys crack me up! I'm leaning towards a G- shock as they are relatively cheap and I know how I am I will never wear a $1k watch as a beater as if I damage the thing I will be annoyed. G-shocks u can pick up for 120$ so if I lost it I wouldn't be so bothered in comparison I've just spent that on dinner and I know what I would rather blow 120$ on!
Not entirely believing you Dennis, I did a quick search of "Casio F-91 terrorist", and OMFG, you aren't kidding. Several confirmations, summary here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casio_F-91W
+1 on Seikos. You can get a decent mechanical Seiko 5 for well under $100 on Amazon Marketplace. Another lesser known brand that makes a good and cheap beater is Orient. Not long ago there was a thread here that contained a good review of one: http://wornandwound.com/2014/08/13/orient-bambino-fer2400bwo-review/ Hope this helps, gatorcpa
Seiko/Orient/Citizen. choose one of the Eco-Drive Citizens. I owned one for a number of years and it was monotonously reliable. wear it like you don't want anybody to notice it.
Not a bad way to while away some weekend hours. Be careful though...even "daily beaters" seem to multiply like lepus curpaeums around here.
You know, a clever watch marketing person at one of these companies should pick up on this, and brand some new model "The Daily Beater"
Darren, go with the G-shock. I've had mine 10+ years, from diving to mountain climbing and eveything in between it has never let me down. Beat the thing to within an inch of it's life and still going strong.
Casio Waveceptor Time synced to Colorado Atomic clock like 4 times a day and it's solar powered. G-Shock without the Ugly Here's one, but you can get them in just about any style
I was impressed with the sales pitch for these, until I read this today: http://watchguy.co.uk/review-a-trip-inside-the-swatch-sistem51-eta-c10111/#more-9233
Thank you for sharing that. I didn't like it when it first came out because it just seems like another disposable watch, I now like it even less. This is one of those good enough technology that I don't care for. It just seems like a waste of resources...To their credit, Swatch has been pretty consistent throughout all these years though, like it or not.
I had the same thought a few years back. I then bought a Bernhardt sea shark (they recently changed the name to, Binnacle Diver), this thing is a beast, Sapphire crystal, 200m water resistant. blagh blagh. Only thing i didnt like was the pins holding the clasp which i replaced with rolex pins. i have abused this watch and it still looks as good as new. https://www.bernhardtwatch.com/index.php?id=31
