Jealous?
Of the watch ? No.

Of the nails ? Erm... I believe I’m not obliged to answer that 😁

That's what I suspected.

I've noticed that some of the arrow hands with the line through them seem to lose definition and kind of smudge over the hands on these. Is there a technical term for that and what is it caused by?

I believe the technical term for this is pedantry. I think it’s caused by wanting to feel part of a group, in this case WIS.

😜

Ha! I have seen some examples that look great other than the hands, and was just wondering if it was something to worry about (like water in the case or something)!!!

Chocolate dial anyone?!

re hands. The centre vein ones are slightly better at holding the lume. The first ones without centre section are rarely intact after 60+ years. Most will need to be stabilised or redone. The dials are better.

These two. Left has a very nice coffee-brown hue to the dial - doesn’t come through in photos, unfortunately.

do these models with the bezel insert wear any bigger than the all steel bezels?

I’m not sure about wearing bigger.. but they definitely bring a different style...

I think they give the impression of more dial area, hence I think they do.

OK, I've become smitten by the Sea Wolf.

Anything to be wary of when looking for one of these?

thanks

For the vintage ones, get a no-date. The date models have a cannon pin (if I recall correctly) that is essentially irreplaceable and very prone to wear.

Parts are a pain to get, some are cross compatible with AS and GP parts, but some are proprietary.
Bezels are unobtanium- don’t think you can find one later- you won’t.
If the lume is dark (on black dials), they are near impossible to read.
They are plentiful enough to not have to settle for a beater.

I’m so wary of the offset cannon pinion issue on my 70-72 SeaWolf that I rarely change the date...I think the uncluttered no-date is prob the preferable way to go; still it’s a great watch and in my rotation .. amazing that a 60 year old watch still has some T lume...

Mine was out at the watchmaker for a solid 6 months, getting parts was the issue- had to wait to track them down. Then there was a modification with the balance, and it was problematic and had to come apart again....why couldn’t they just use a plain ol eta like everyone else 🙄

But it is a stunning watch and a total pleasure to wear.
