··Carpe horologium!Here is my Zenith Sporto subseconds. If you don’t own a vintage Zenith, then this one, with a sweet, newly serviced, manual-wind, caliber 40 ticking inside, would make a great start!
This 1956 dial appears untouched, and the hands appear to be original, too, IMO. My guess is that some lume was added to the hands after the original lume there failed. It is remarkable that the dial plots have survived so beautifully over its 63 years!
The all stainless-steel case is 34mm with a 18mm lug width. The thin bezel around a relatively large dial helps it to wear larger than most watches at 34mm width. The edges are still sharp, and unpolished to my eye. No deep marks or gashes, only normal vintage wear.
Please look at all of photos for full description. The movement shots are courtesy of the previous seller. He serviced the movement last summer, and she runs well.
The slightly worn, fine suede strap you see in the pics is included in your purchase.
