    Hi all,

I’m looking to purchase a Defy 28800 in relatively good condition from what I can tell. Case looks reasonably sharp, original crown and dial looks ok. My only concern is that the thick crystal has some fairly significant scuff/scrapes around 12/6 o’clock.

Does anyone know if these can be buffed out or if there are replacement crystals available? I get the feeling it’d be hard to find an original replacement crystal...

Any input on the condition of the watch overall? I don't have a lot of experience with Zenith, so any opinions at all would be helpful before I commit to buy!

Hard to say for sure from the pics, but Polywatch has worked miracles for me, so I’d say it would at least make it less noticeable if not completely gone.

    Poly? Look again...

@jshaw083 a new crystal that fits is easy... unique profile on that one... might be a tough get did you google it?

Agree I don’t think polywatch will cut it. Scratches/chips are deep. Thinking maybe I’ll just tough it out and wait for a replacement, or ask my watch repair guy to try and buff it out.

Interestingly, I just asked the seller if he could provide the serial number. He said he “wasn’t even sure if the watch had a serial number”.

All watches should have a serial number right? He’s gonna check in a bit whether he can find it

Never mind, found it on the caseback.

316E805... now I’m trying to figure out if it dates to the correct time period for a Defy 2562pc. I’m finding multiple tables, but based on this post, Defys in 1972 only went up until the 2xxExxx

Think it’s appropriate serial for the watch? Anyone have any other Zenith serial number databases I could use?

My bad, list from link provided links it to 1972! Couldn’t read it properly on my phone

So I guess it checks out, unless anyone else has any concerns re: condition

It’s more that I think it’s mineral glass or sapphire not acrylic... poly only works on acrylic.

It's mineral glass and polywatch will not work. Finding a mineral glass replacement will be challenging but I have had some luck on ebay via a seller in Portugal (mundo-da-relojoaria).

My opinion is, that the condition of your defy ist okay. Mineral Crystal is (as far as one can tell with your Pics) also not too bad. Finding a replacement crystal ist hard (mine from Portugal never arrived...) Polywatch ist not working as already stated above. If I would buy your example I would keep the Crystal.

However: as @dougiedude recommends: take a look at @sneer s defy. Killer price, nice piece and very nice seller.
