Good eye! I wonder if he sold the ladder bracelet and now has decided to part with the watch head.

Not sure it’s a Mk 1 case because I see a groove in the case where the lugs merge into the body. it’s definitely a service dial

Also service tach scale, service register hands (should be flat tipped), caseback points to a 5XXD serial and eBay piece is 944D

So in your opinion, a bit of a Franken special? If these are all service parts, assuming they are genuine Zenith, how does that affect value? Personally I think it's a great looking watch. I would much rather have the pointed register hands.

As mentioned above it has a Mark II caseback with a Mark III number creatively etched into the back. Actually according to alphahands there are no 944D serials for A386s.

In terms of value I'd say it's worth $3200. The value is in the movement, crown, and case (excluding caseback).

That's a scary analysis. Thanks for the response. Think I better stick to collecting the newer stuff. If it sees too good to be true....

There’s actually no value in the case either as it’s highly a forged case, and has no reference to any of the A386 iterations.
