Hadn't seen this El Primero posted anywhere, so thought I'd start a thread. A386 up at Sotheby's "Important Watches" tomorrow. est. $8k-12k. Full lot here: https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auc...9/reference-a386-el-primero-a-stainless-steel Photo courtesy Sotheby's.
Wrong minute and hour hands. Case looks polished a bit too much. Lume looks like it has been redone. The area between the inner bezel and outer bezel looks odd, it shouldn’t be empty space like that so I think something is not right with the bezel.
As we all know, the A386 is a very important watch -- just not this one..... I agree with ELV's comments. Looks like a wrong replacement tachy ring. It is too small, and doesn't line up with the dial.... M
Sold for about $14k. Wonder if we'll see the same case # resurface with a more "correct" configuration of dial/hands soon. For future reference, case #: 923D635
$13.8k was all-in, @Medinatalzahra . To address @vujen 's comment regarding case with an image, here's a bit of a profile of the watch (again, courtesy Sotheby's):
Oh man...that price for that piece! wow. Auctions are such a weird business in today's world. They certainly have their place but its a totally odd place: eBay level products being presented in a Bentley showroom. Granted they sell their share of Bentley's and Lambo's too but...buyer beware! (Disclosure: I've bought 2 watches at auction before. One I did well on and still own. The other was a wash: just okay product, resold at no loss)
