Please read my post carefully. Not using that Big Lemon image as an example to back up black hands on an A3630. Just stating the the hands are not repainted as this handset was manufactured by Zenith in black colour for other divers.

You don't know that to be the case. They could be original, oxidized steel hands that were over-painted.

Nor does the other poster stating that they were repainted black.

The salient point is that there is no compelling evidence that such hands were ever originally fitted on the A3630. Whether the hands shown were transplanted from another model or repainted is of little importance.

If you lack a thoughtful response, it's usually best not to respond at all.

Black hands was used in colors dial with black index
Not with black dial. Steel index steel hands.
Some time diver models got orange hand set.
Here hands are wrong

That makes perfect sense.

Relax. You seem keen to argue about a topic which was discussed and pretty much concluded in this thread over two years ago.

Agreed. That’s the case in the vintage catalogues that I have seen.

The only conclusion that an objective reader of the thread might have is that there has been no remotely compelling evidence that any A3630 divers left the factory with black painted hands.

If you agree with that, and are only pointing out that they were used on other models, then there is no need to argue at all.

Completely agreed.

Glad we can be friends now 😉

WOW!
2285$ Plus taxes (it comes from turkey)
Dial very spoiled, wrong hands, scratched case, need urgently service, no bracelet, no ZE end links but correct crown.
I offered 1100$, but I’m stingy
It became difficoult to acquire a vintage Zenith!
Wich is the right price for an A3630 in good conditions and with correct pieces?

Excellent or better trade for $4-5,000, and sometimes more through dealers.

Well, that is the current market. Collectors sometimes pay close to €1k for the bracelet alone!

Also, consider that good examples do not appear on the market frequently, and are typically sold quickly.

Thank you very much!

My ghost bezel is very nice with natural shine, I like it less with artificial shine. I tried to keep the A3630 on eBay to keep also a dark bezel...

I think you are rigth, the watch is really beatiful. Some years ago the price were very lower.
I’m not particulary happy of this price, I’m looking for other 2/3 references and I think it will be difficoult to find good watches and low prices

I have owned many vintage divers, and believe the A3630 to be the best looking of all of them. Add to that the Zenith quality, and it is understandable why they command such strong prices.

There are still nice divers that are "under the radar", and cost much less, but they are not in the class of these.

Does anyone know what reference this diver could be? Cal 408.
