I think I’m having a [skateboarding] midlife crisis as I’m currently in my 55th year of existing on this planet. 😲

I just dropped some coin at the Vans store in the mall...Vans shorts [pictured below], Vans belt [wearing below but not visible], Vans socks [pictured below] and Vans shoes [pictured below]. I sprinted home from the mall and changed into my new Vans stuff so I could skate [in proper uniform] my vintage G&S deck with Gull Wing trucks and OJ wheels that I purchased new circa 1980. I still don’t have a Vans shirt but I believe it’s appropriate to wear a Metallica t-shirt [pictured below] since members of Metallica are known skaters. Anyway...I’m thinking about purchasing a new G&S Fibreflex Pintail longboard. Always wanted a longboard...might as well stick with G&S.

So...what’s your past, present, future midlife crisis?

NOTE: Phlieger Phriday with a Raine Inc. protective band! 😁

Just about to turn 52 and remember the skateboard craze too. I had made my own oak board, and outfitted it with ACS trucks and Bones wheels. Actually, I had 2 sets of Bones - one for the skatepark, and one for the street.

Didn't go for the Vans back then, but the checkerboard designs were all the rage.

Remember to tuck and roll.
I'm also about the same age. My skateboard is in the attic. Vintage Gullwing trucks still in place. My youngest son just bought one of those crazy electric long boards that will do 25+mph. Already broke his wrist. He offered me to take it for a spin. I said "pass".

Honestly, I have a new idol. Very very cool @Mad Dog. My vans say hello (although I'm only 36). And of course a watch shot for posterity.

Why so mad, @Mad Dog ?

I’ve been wanting to ask you that for some time. I want to know why you frequently look so mad.

To me anyway, life is just one crisis after another. Maybe you get a gap, maybe you don’t. Sometimes they’re on top of each other. I never really noticed a specific ‘mid-life crisis’.

45 yrs old here, still have my Santa Cruz Rob Roskopp from the 80s in the attic.

I went through a Ducati sport bike phase a few yrs ago, but got out of that when a minivan ran me off the road.

I married my mid life crisis. Don’t think she’d be too pleased to be posted here...

I turn 54 later this year. My midlife crisis was early 40's.
Sold the house, sold the business, bought a yacht & took the family cruising. Spent about 4 yrs, not all on the water, before settling down.

My male peers now use me as an excuse for buying their latest toys:
Wife: "What did you waste money on that overpriced POS for? We could have had a family holiday in Europe."
Husband:" I've been dreaming of one all my life. At least I didn't quit work & sell the house."
Wife: clamps mouth shut & gives hubby no more BS.

That’s my kind of midlife crisis. I’m 28, and have already begun plotting. Buy a Toyota SUV, strap a tent to the top, and start driving south.
