Dear Omega experts, Would you be able to help gathering information on this timepiece ? It comes from my grand father, that used to be a pilot. I would like to know the year it was built, all the technical details you would have, eventually the associated price (not for sale as it is family history but still valuable info), etc... Thanks for your help ! Ceddemo
Cal 321 or Cal 27 CHRO 12 (same thing more or less), @cristos71 has something similar I think from memory its French market late 1940s but he'd know more.
Thx dsio ! Btw I went to an Omega dealer, it is a c12 indeed, built in 1944, ref 2451-2. Any additional news welcomed!
The Fab. Suisse on the dial certainly puts it as a French market piece and the dial and hands are indeed very similar to mine. The case does look different to the 2451 174-3 which I have. I say 2451 174-3 but it is actually only marked 174-3 as these French cased watches have a tendency to be missing all of the Swiss reference number if in gold and from what I have observed some of reference number if in steel. I´d be interested to see the reference number on the inside of the case back if you can open it or have a jeweler open it for you.( edit: I see you posted the ref. while I was typing! ) Mine is a cal 321 with a 12 million serial number from around 1950 so I´d imagine something around the same here, although I have seen a similarly dialed example with the earlier 27 CHRO. So date wise somewhere from around 1945 to somewhere in the early fifties.
Thx for your answer cristos79 and beautiful watch! I start to get the discussions around the 321 movement aso... My serial number is in the 10 million range. I also asked for Omega archive's extract on their website to get the details.
The 2451 seems to be a very long running reference with at least 3 variations that look differently to each other, 2 of which have a removable bezel.
That's what I've seen with my observation. I have no way to verify, but there appear to be too many of them for any variations to be non-legitimate.
Thx tntwatch. It seems indeed that this reference last until end of the 50s, I saw 8 versions on the internet, maybe I missed others.
It is indeed! i also own a Seamaster with an unusual faded sheen, here it is in case you would want to see it
