The dial is refinished with a more modern script.

Hand color not matching dial hard ware,

Movement was swapped from an older model (18 mil.....14393 maybe ,the original movement could be a 564, in 25 mil range)

Hoi is correct. Since C-cases weren't introduced until the mid 60's (Dec '64 IIRC) your watch's movement should have a serial number of at least 21 million minimum, and 23 million or better is more common. I suspect it's a franken because the hands don't match either and the Constellation is a later (early 70's) font I think - the last "n" that doesn't roll under might be the giveaway.

Seeing the back reference number would help. But Hoi's suggestion that the movement is replaced would certainly explain the dial script better than refinishing as the script is not correct for serial is a little old for even a 168.0017. Another 564 kidnapped :(

    Hi
You all have the Knowledge well done

When I said I had just received this one I should have gone on to say from my watchmaker

The 561 complete with dial and hands, was a refugee from a heavy gold case which some philistine had made into a large gold ring
The case is NOS from a well known Australian bay seller a 168.007
Cousins supplied the Omega crown, steel ringed crystal and the Ostrich leather band and my watchmaker did a complete service oil and assembly.

Whilst not a collectors watch its a nice beater for $250.

So it was a pop quiz, eh? Glad we passed. :)

And yes, for $250 I'd certainly be pleased with it as a daily driver.

Which is less than the value of the parts.

I think you did well for the price.

Would look much better with a correct set of silver hands, but for $250.00 you've done well.

Love it. I'd wear it proudly. I would swap the hands though.
