You can only have one, which would you choose?
Patek Philippe 5040 yellow gold perpetual calendar with tonneau case or the 5035 yellow gold annual calendar. Value is not an issue, consider watches to be of equal value.
Why?
5040
My lousy eyesight makes perpetual calendars with tiny sub-dials and hands a no-go. So, gun to my head, the annual calendar, though that date aperture placement and typography is pretty terrible.

Quite frankly, the typography on most (all?) Pateks is sub-par IMO.
I prefer the perpetual, but, generally, I like watches with a second hand. Neither get a lot of wrist time as I usually wear stainless steel sport watches.
I had a 5035P , white/silver dial. It suffered legibility issues. In bright sunlight you had to get the angle right to read it.
A very understated watch, I let it go at a loss and went to DRSD.

Like you, I prefer sweep second hands and, as @marcn posted, I generally avoid sub-dials which I have no use for and which can obscure the hour and minute hands.
perpetual calendar certainly considered a high complication, more so than an annual but I would pass on both. I dislike the dial on the 5035 and the tonneau case on the 5040 is a no go. Maybe consider a 5159/5496/5320?
Neither is attractive tom me but If I had to choose I like the 5035 better. Curious about the first picture of the 5035 though, why is the date changing so late in the day? (unless it is the 32nd of November.)
